Is our fate predetermined?..
I feel that we all have a predetermined destiny, a calling, a path we are drawn to taking, however, to take that path and answer that calling, is a choice that we ourselves have to make for ourselves. Nothing will be handed to you, and you must set your mind to things and strive to achieve them. Everyone is born the same, we may all look different, have different personalities and are born into different families, though we are all equally capable of the same things, if the effort is given. I'm not sure if there is a man upstairs, positioning us and choosing a plan for each of us. I feel though, that he is giving us choices to make, throwing obstacles in our path, and testing us constantly, watching us closely and seeing what we do.
Do humans, naturally, strive for power?..
Of course the average human being will naturally strive for a powerful position, a spot on the top, first place. Just about everyone wants to be #1 and if they say they're not they are either lying or being extra humble that day. Everyone wants attention, everyone wants a following, and everyone wants to be a leader. When we talk power, many things can be implied or meant. Many things branch from power, like fame and fortune, a position that requires responsibility for other people, and even corruption. In our society, these things are considered to have high value, and are desirable by most. This is why naturally, humans strive for power, for the benefits.
AN EYE, FOR AN EYE?..
Personally, I don't believe in the death penalty. For someone to kill another human being, and get away with the same fate, is just letting them off to easy. I believe they should be dealt a greater punishment. Something to make them suffer, such as solitary confinement. A person who has the audacity to kill another, I'm sure, has already contemplated and has accepted death into his or her life, so killing them wouldn't really justify the situation. I think a person who kills another, should be put on a completely deserted island, with nothing. Forced to wander and scavenge until all will has been stripped from that person's body. With no contact, to anything..... Now that, is a punishment.
